This is a great hike if you want to work a little, have great views, but don’t want to travel an hour from Basel.
Starting at the train station in Pratteln, we walked through the town and started our ascent. This hike has a good climb for the first 4 kilometers with a gain of around 350 meters. The climb is worth it because the Sulzchopf has the best view of Basel, France, and Germany I’ve seen in the area.
Sulzchopf has several fire pits and a recreational building that can be reserved for parties and events. There were a lot of people there but it didn’t feel crowded because there was so much space for everyone. You can plan ahead to bring some food to grill, fire wood was available!
Leaving Sulzchopf everything was pretty much down hill on the way to Muttenz.
This is a simple hike but great for a couple of hours of outdoor energy!
