The Best Personal Trainer you'll never meet - Aaptiv review

I have been in love with my personal trainer for 3,109 minutes.

I met Aaptiv before it was Aaptiv, back in the day when it was known as Skyfit. The company started in mid-2016 and rebranded itself to Aaptiv in early 2017. The name is a bit difficult but according to the press release its "A play on the words 'active' and 'adaptive', 'Aaptiv' is meant to encompass activity and adaptivity because an active lifestyle should be adaptive to the consumer’s needs."

To say that this app has changed my workout routine would be a massive understatement. Before Aaptiv I would typically just arrive at the gym, check which cardio machine was free, and hop on.

I used to just set it and forget it, one speed and a podcast for 30 minutes, done.

Sometimes I would even skip the workout altogether because I just didn't want to think about what to do. I know, it's super lazy.

Then I met Skyfit/Aaptiv and my workouts have never been the same, literally!

I mean it, I have never done the same workout twice!

Now I still don't know what I'm going to do when I go to the gym BUT when I arrive and check which machine is free I know my personal trainer will have the perfect workout for me.

I step up to the rowing machine (yes, the most boring machine in the gym but also the best cardio machine for all body workout), I sit down, strap down my feet and open Aaptiv.

As I scroll through the 27 different workouts (the rowing workouts are the newest addition to the family), I usually pick my workout by the amount of time I have available. There are other filter options like Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, HIIT, Endurance, Intervals and of course the trainer.

Why have one personal trainer when you can have 12?

There are 12 different trainers currently on board at Aaptiv. I haven't found one that I like or dislike more than the others but you do learn their styles and maybe you'll pick a favorite.

Oh, I haven't even mentioned the music yet!

They recently added a "Find a Workout" filter where you can choose all the different workout details plus which music genre you prefer. I like the wide variety of songs played over the workouts, many of which I never would have known about except for Aaptiv.

Now I'm ready to go with my workout, the trainer starts with a warm-up, then talks me through the entire workout, including encouraging words, goal setting and overall creating a positive mood. At the end of my workout, I feel awesome!

Besides not having to plan ahead and think about my workout, the workout itself goes by SO QUICKLY! I usually do 1-3 workouts at a time. The last one always being a stretching routine that is recommended when my workout is complete.

This app has continually gotten better. They have kept up a nice pace of adding new features both to the app and also pairing it well with the Apple Watch.

There are disadvantages to having only a digital personal trainer, they can't correct your form or 'get in your face'. But the trainers have done a good job at structuring the workouts and providing 'form feedback' at the point when my form is actually starting to waver.

I really can't say enough about this app and the workouts!

Go and check it out, I believe you can try it for a week free or send me your email and I can give a one-month guest passes to try for free.

Find it on Google Play or on Apple App Store
