I Googled to see if there were another origins for this idea and found many '30 days of me' posts but this one I liked the most so here we go!
Day 19 - Something you crave a lot
Boy, do I love coffee.
About 2 years ago I came to the realization that I had been drinking coffee my entire adult life and had never had a time without it.
I decided to quit coffee for a while to see how long it would take to curb my craving for caffeine and for coffee. My husband will tell you that I was not a very nice person for the first 2 days sans coffee but after that it was okay.
I had only one headache and a little bit of withdrawal but it was not too difficult to quit it. I drank one cup of green tea a day for about a week than nothing at all.
What I learned about myself was that I could just stop drinking it if I needed to. For instance, I would stop drinking coffee a week before a long hike when I wasn't sure I'd have a cuppa every morning. I'd rather deal with a headache and weening process before I hit the trail.
I typically drink Nespresso, long pour with either foamed or cold milk. I have also successfully weened myself off of sugar in my coffee. Even when I allow myself a little sugar, on vacation or for a special occasion, I prefer it without.
